The role

Reporting to the Director of Development, Science and Society, the Director, Philanthropy Development leads philanthropic development activities for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Université de Montréal, as part of the major campaign L’Heure est brave.

The role involves developing and implementing ambitious fundraising strategies, building and maintaining strong relationships with donors and partners, and advising faculty leadership on philanthropic priorities and opportunities. The Director also manages a team of professionals and plays an active role in growing major gifts and achieving institutional objectives.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or any other relevant field. A certificate in philanthropy and CFRE certification are considered assets;
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in philanthropic development, primarily in major gifts;
  • Proven track record in fundraising with major donors and in managing multi-million-dollar portfolios with a strong focus on donor stewardship;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing a high-performing team. Experience with unionized employees is an asset;
  • Experience navigating complex, hierarchical organizational environments with multiple stakeholders;
  • Proficiency with fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge is an asset).
