The role

Reporting to the VP, Solutions and Projects, the Director, Estimation is responsible for the management and performance of the estimation process. The role includes supervising and mentoring a team of estimators, planning and prioritizing bids based on business opportunities, and ensuring quality, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.

The Director also acts as a technical expert by validating concepts, materials, and cost assumptions, while taking ownership of the most complex or strategic projects. Working closely with sales, engineering, production, and procurement teams, the incumbent ensures alignment of proposals and contributes to the continuous improvement of estimation methods, tools, and standards.

The right fit

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a DEC in Mechanical Design (or equivalent relevant experience);
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or design of industrial mechanical equipment;
  • Experience in project estimation within a manufacturing or custom fabrication environment is a strong asset;
  • Experience in team management or supervision of technical staff is a strong asset;
  • Experience in bulk material handling, mining, port, or sorting center industries is a strong asset.

Language Skills

  • Excellent proficiency in French, both spoken and written;
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of steel, metals, and industrial materials used in equipment manufacturing;
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent);
  • Ability to read technical drawings and take measurements;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, assembly).
