The Corporation des maîtres électriciens du Québec issues the Subcategory 16 contractor license, which authorizes electrical work in Quebec. All master electricians must be members.

Since 1950, its mission has been to protect the public by ensuring the qualifications and integrity of its members, while overseeing their professional conduct. It also provides them with the services and support needed to carry out their trade.

The role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Professional Qualification is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all activities related to the professional qualification of electrical contractors.

This person supervises a team of 10 employees. The role includes managing operations related to license administration and issuance, updating and administering examinations, and handling access to information requests.

The Director also acts as a key liaison with institutional partners, prepares and presents briefs to the Executive Committee and the Provincial Board of Directors, and contributes to annual reports, including the one submitted to the Minister of Labour regarding professional qualification activities.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, law, or a relevant equivalent discipline

  • Minimum of five years of management experience, ideally in a regulatory, parapublic, or institutional environment

  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks, particularly in professional qualification, compliance, and accountability

  • Proven experience supervising teams, including performance evaluation, engagement, retention, and workplace climate management

  • Demonstrated ability to structure and evolve processes, ensure procedural compliance, and maintain high standards of quality and rigor

  • Proven experience in digital transformation initiatives, from needs assessment to operational implementation

  • Experience drafting strategic briefs and reports

  • Asset: Member of the Barreau du Québec
