The Corporation of Master Electricians of Quebec (CMEQ) issues the Subclass 16 Contractor’s Licence, which authorizes electrical work throughout Quebec. Membership in the Corporation is mandatory for all master electricians.

Since 1950, CMEQ’s mission has been to protect the public by ensuring the qualifications and integrity of its members while overseeing their professional conduct. The organization also provides the services, resources, and support required for the practice of the profession.

The role

In a constantly evolving environment, the Director of Communications and Partnerships will reposition CMEQ as a leading authority on electrical safety, both within the industry and among the general public. In alignment with the Corporation’s strategic priorities, the incumbent will develop and implement communication, marketing, and digital marketing strategies while respecting the organization’s mission and budgetary framework.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, the Director will lead a team consisting of an Editor in Chief, a Multimedia Integrator, a Communications Advisor, and an Administrative Assistant, while also collaborating with external partners and service providers.

The successful candidate will oversee publications, promotional campaigns, corporate events, digital platforms, and social media activities. In addition, they will develop strategic partnerships with government, industry, association, and private sector stakeholders for the benefit of CMEQ and its members.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a management role within communications, public relations, or media
  • Professional designation in Public Relations (APR), considered an asset
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong negotiation abilities
  • Solid project management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Functional proficiency in English required; full bilingualism is not required
