Conseil de l'économie sociale de l'île de Montréal (CESIM)
The Conseil d’économie sociale de l’île de Montréal (CESIM) is Montréal’s regional organization dedicated to the development of the social economy. Its mission is to promote, support, and strengthen the social economy as a driver of economic, social, territorial, and collective development across Montréal.
Recognized by the Montréal Agglomeration, CESIM serves as the regional social economy hub alongside the other regional hubs across Québec. It plays a central role in promoting the social economy, supporting the emergence, growth, and consolidation of collective enterprises, and mobilizing local, regional, and institutional stakeholders.
At the intersection of community, economic, municipal, institutional, and associative sectors, CESIM contributes to positioning the social economy as a structured response to Montréal’s major challenges, including socio ecological transition, neighbourhood vitality, inclusion, local development, social innovation, and community resilience.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director General provides strategic, organizational, and partnership leadership for CESIM. The incumbent is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, implementing its strategic orientations, and achieving its objectives.
In this role, the Director General ensures CESIM is positioned as an influential, credible, and unifying actor within Montréal’s ecosystem. The individual represents the organization with public, municipal, community, economic, and institutional partners, while actively contributing to the development of strategic partnerships and the recognition of the social economy within Montréal’s policies, projects, and development priorities.
Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Director General contributes to defining the organization’s strategic directions and ensures their implementation. The incumbent oversees the sound management of human, financial, and organizational resources, supports the team in delivering on its mandates, and fosters a culture rooted in collaboration, rigor, impact, and mobilization.
The Director General also acts as a champion for Montréal’s social economy ecosystem. The individual helps unite stakeholders across the territory, strengthen relationships between networks, and position CESIM as a space for collaboration, influence, and collective action in support of Montréal’s development.
