The role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director is responsible for transforming business opportunities into successfully executed mandates. Acting as a key organizational leader, this role serves as the primary owner of client relationships and operational performance, ensuring alignment between client commitments, team capacity, and growth objectives.

The incumbent oversees a portfolio of strategic clients and projects, provides leadership and guidance to project managers, and resolves workload and resource allocation challenges. They play a critical role in operational oversight, budget management, and resource planning for both client-driven and publicly funded projects.

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director contributes to strategic planning, business development efforts, and the expansion of existing markets. This position requires the ability to balance strategic vision, operational rigor, and relationship-based leadership to strengthen VPC’s presence, reputation, and impact among institutional partners.

The right fit
  • Diplôme d’études universitaires en administration publique, communication, sciences politiques ou tout autre domaine jugé pertinent;
  • Un minimum de 10 ans d’expérience en gestion opérationnelle et développement d’affaires dans un contexte organisationnel à but non lucratif ou en transformation stratégique;
  • Réalisations éprouvées à piloter la priorisation de portefeuilles de mandats et clients stratégiques, puis à mener de multiples mandats avec l’équipe;
  • Expérience dans la supervision de chargés de projet et l’arbitrage des enjeux de charge de travail;
  • Expérience en gestion budgétaire et allocation de ressources pour des projets subventionnés;
  • Expérience en coaching d’équipes et renforcement des compétences relationnelles et stratégiques;
  • Connaissance du milieu municipal ou du développement territorial, ainsi que des enjeux de gouvernance et soutenir l’alignement des mandats avec les objectifs stratégiques.
  • Maîtrise des outils de planification financière et analyse de la performance opérationnelle;
  • Expérience en gestion de situations clients complexes ou sensibles;
  • Expérience en développement de nouvelles opportunités d’affaires et maximisation des marchés établis, en rédaction de proposition de services et en pitch client.
