The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is an independent, non-partisan charitable organization established in 2001 to honour the legacy of the former Prime Minister.

The Foundation’s mission is to support the development of exceptional doctoral students, researchers, and public intellectuals who are leaders in their respective fields. Its goal is to empower Scholars, Fellows, and Mentors to make a meaningful impact within their communities, institutions, and beyond.

The role

Reporting to the Director of Programs and working closely with another Communications Advisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of all communications related to the Foundation and its community members, including Scholars, Fellows, and Mentors.

The incumbent will manage a variety of communications projects from planning through execution, demonstrating strong attention to detail while respecting timelines and budget parameters.

The Communications Advisor will also be responsible for ensuring the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of content across all Foundation communication platforms, including the website, social media channels, newsletters, and other communications tools. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues involved in program delivery while maintaining strong relationships with members of the Foundation community.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in communications, project planning, and project management;
  • Excellent command of both French and English, spoken and written;
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, tools, and best practices, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube;
  • Excellent ability to analyze performance data (web analytics, social media metrics, newsletters) and translate insights into actionable recommendations to optimize communication strategies;
  • Proficiency with Canva;
  • Experience using Mailchimp, audience segmentation, and marketing automation tools;
  • Experience with WordPress for content management and website editing;
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) would be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian university, research, social sciences and humanities sectors, or the non-profit sector would be considered an asset.
