The Bureau d’aide et d’assistance familiale (BAAF) is a non-profit community organization that has been serving the Laval community for more than 40 years. Its mission is to support families and foster their autonomy, inclusion, and participation in community life. The organization primarily supports families facing various situations of vulnerability and currently serves more than 400 families.

BAAF offers a wide range of services and activities, including individual and group support, respite care, French-language learning programs, collective kitchens, homework assistance, activities for children, peer support groups, and various initiatives designed to promote social connection and empowerment.

The role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees the overall management and development of BAAF. They ensure the fulfillment of the organization’s mission, foster team engagement, oversee the sound management of financial and human resources, ensure the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, and develop strategic partnerships that support BAAF’s growth and impact within the community.

The right fit
  • University degree in a relevant field such as business administration, management, community development, social work, public relations, or another related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a leadership, management, or executive role within a non-profit organization, community organization, or mission-driven organization;
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budget development and monitoring, reporting to funders, and implementing rigorous administrative controls and processes;
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and mobilizing partnerships with community, institutional, government, and philanthropic stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to represent an organization with a variety of stakeholders and strengthen its visibility and presence within the community;
  • Experience in strategic planning or in supporting a Board of Directors in defining and implementing organizational priorities and strategic directions;
  • Experience leading and engaging multidisciplinary teams, including talent development, coaching, and employee support;
  • Strong understanding of issues affecting families, women in vulnerable situations, social inclusion, and Quebec’s community sector;
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles, with the ability to ensure rigorous oversight of financial statements, audits, and reporting obligations.
