Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ)
Leveraging the expertise of its staff and the richness of its collections, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) provides democratic access to culture and knowledge.
As an institution dedicated to memory and knowledge, BAnQ acquires, processes, preserves and showcases Québec’s documentary heritage as well as a vast collection of documents across all fields. It also provides large-scale public library services to the entire Québec population. In addition, BAnQ plays an advisory role in information management for the archival community, ministries and public organizations, while offering specialized services and support to libraries, publishers, researchers and the education sector.
The Archives Act governs the management of public and private archives in Québec and grants BAnQ a dual mission, both heritage-related and administrative: ensuring the preservation and dissemination of archives with heritage value, while supporting the integrated management of administrative records for the government and the public organizations covered by the Act. To fulfill this mission, BAnQ relies on its General Directorate for Advisory Expertise and National Archives (DGECAN), whose teams operate across 10 archival centres located in Québec City, Montreal, Gaspé, Gatineau, Rimouski, Rouyn-Noranda, Saguenay, Sept-Îles, Sherbrooke and Trois-Rivières.
DGECAN is also responsible for coordinating advisory expertise services across all BAnQ activities and partner organizations.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will oversee all functions related to administration, finance, asset management, security, procurement and BAnQ’s self-generated revenues, within an integrated organizational performance framework.
The individual will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership and actively contribute to the development and implementation of institutional priorities, ensuring alignment between strategic objectives, available resources and organizational capabilities.
Within a context of transformation, the incumbent will position financial and administrative functions as key drivers of value creation, risk management, quality of environments and long-term asset sustainability. The individual will strengthen governance mechanisms, support decision-making processes and optimize the use of public resources and self-generated revenues.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing an integrated vision of organizational performance, including the management of budgets, investments, payroll, major projects, infrastructure and space management, in close collaboration with all BAnQ departments.
