The Institut national de l’image et du son (L’inis) is a leading institution in professional training within the audiovisual sector. Founded at the initiative of the audiovisual industry, L’inis is recognized as a higher arts education institution by Québec’s Ministry of Culture and Communications, as well as a sector-based training mutual organization by the Ministry of Employment and Social Solidarity.

L’inis’ mission is to train and support emerging creators and working professionals through targeted programs. The institution is a private, non-profit organization offering a practical and rigorous educational pathway designed to develop skills within a stimulating and inclusive environment. It acts as a catalyst for the talents who conceive, direct, and produce the stories of today and tomorrow.

The role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the organization’s strategic and operational leadership. The incumbent ensures the fulfillment of the mission, mobilizes teams, oversees human, financial, and material resources, and develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partners, enabling the organization to fully play its role within the audiovisual ecosystem in Québec and Canada.

The person in this role plays a key part in defining and implementing strategic directions, while ensuring compliance with applicable policies and upholding principles of sound governance.

The right fit
  • University degree in management, administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in strategic leadership, including at least 5 years managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Recognized expertise in the audiovisual sector, including an understanding of digital innovation and transformation trends.
  • Knowledge of the professional training environment and the operations of a cultural non-profit organization, considered an asset.
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, prioritization, and project management, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Experience evolving business models and developing independent revenue streams to ensure organizational sustainability.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and management systems to effectively oversee operations.
