The role

Reporting to the Functional Director of Communications, External Relations and International Affairs, the Director, Communications Services plays a pivotal role in advancing Polytechnique Montréal’s mission and enhancing its reputation. The successful candidate will translate institutional priorities into impactful communication initiatives that reinforce the institution’s visibility and strategic positioning.

The Director oversees the Communications Services team, including the Institutional and Integrated Communications units, as well as the Graphic Communications and Internal Brand team (The Studio). Working closely with these groups, the incumbent ensures message consistency and the effective implementation of communication strategies across the organization.

As a change leader, the Director develops and implements a clear communications governance framework by defining roles, responsibilities, and decision making processes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

The right fit
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in communications and team leadership
  • Demonstrated success developing impactful communications campaigns, with a strong understanding of visual communications and brand management
  • Knowledge of the university or scientific sector is considered a significant asset
  • Experience collaborating with an in house creative studio
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and navigate multiple stakeholders in demanding environments
  • Strong expertise in strategic positioning and institutional reputation management
  • Experience in crisis communications and providing strategic guidance for organizational change initiatives
  • Excellent command of both French and English, spoken and written, with outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing communications software, digital communication platforms, and artificial intelligence tools is considered an asset
