The First Peoples Innovation Centre (FPIC) is a leading organization that supports innovative social initiatives where Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples collaborate to showcase and activate the full potential of the First Peoples, in a spirit of authentic and lasting reconciliation.

Founded in 2012 in Gatineau, the FPIC is a key player in the field of social and technological innovation for and by Indigenous Peoples, both in urban settings and within communities. Its mission is to support and enhance the identity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples while fostering authentic and sustainable reconciliation.

Recognized as a registered charity by the Canada Revenue Agency, the FPIC stands out for its ability to foster collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, highlighting the unique potential of Indigenous communities.

The role

The Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for the First Peoples Innovation Centre. They will be responsible for implementing the organization’s mission, promoting innovation, cultural pride, and the sustainable development of Indigenous communities.

The right fit
  • University degree in a relevant field (social sciences, community development, human rights programs, Indigenous policy, or a related field);

  • At least 5 years of experience managing a non-profit organization, ideally in a cultural or community environment, and at least 3 years of team management experience (performance management and team capacity building);

  • Strong knowledge of financial management (budgets, forecasts, accounting, reporting, processes, operations);

  • Experience in fundraising (sponsorships, grants, financial partnerships, fundraising campaigns, etc.);

  • Experience in governance (board meetings, follow-ups, dashboards, reports, etc.);

  • Experience in public relations (public speaking, representation, media relations, government relations);

  • Experience in identifying and implementing service and program development initiatives.

  • Solid knowledge of the issues and realities of Indigenous Peoples, with a strong commitment to their cultural and social development;

  • Knowledge of the social and technological innovation sector is considered an asset.
