Founded in 1983, Maison Secours aux Femmes de Montréal Inc., a non-profit organization, is dedicated to sheltering and supporting women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. MSF provides housing, support, and awareness services to assist all women in need, regardless of their origin, culture, or beliefs. Maison Secours aux Femmes de Montréal is guided by values of autonomy, diversity, solidarity, and social justice.

The role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides transformational and compassionate leadership focused on team mobilization. She ensures the sound management and smooth operation of the shelter. She is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the organization, including administration, funding, accounting, human and material resource management, as well as building maintenance.

She actively contributes to organizational development, stakeholder engagement, and the implementation of the strategic directions adopted by the Board. She ensures the quality and effectiveness of services while maintaining rigorous and optimal resource management. She works closely with the Clinical Coordinator to guarantee the quality of interventions and the complementarity of the organization’s actions.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, community development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience;
  • More than 6 years of relevant experience managing a community organization or significant experience related to the role, ideally within a shelter environment;
  • Strong knowledge of issues related to domestic violence;
  • Solid understanding of feminist intervention approaches;
  • Knowledge of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and accounting;
  • Experience in human resources management, including recruitment, supervision, and team mobilization;
  • Experience in facilities and material resource management, including building maintenance, considered an asset;
  • Experience in governance and working with a Board of Directors, including reporting and dashboard oversight;
  • Proficiency with computer tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sage, and other relevant software;
  • Intercultural experience and sensitivity to diverse realities, considered strong assets;
  • Knowledge of English and a third language, considered an asset.
