Cogeco Media, a subsidiary of Cogeco founded in 1957 by Henri Audet, is a major player in Quebec’s radio landscape. It operates 21 radio stations, including 98.5 in Montreal, FM93 in Quebec City, and the Rythme network stations, reaching nearly 5 million listeners each week. It also owns Cogeco News, the largest private radio news agency in Quebec. Its Cogeco Force Radio division offers advertisers a powerful network of partner stations and integrated services in advertising, research, and media creativity.

 

 

The role

The Executive Director is responsible for the strategic performance of regional talk and music radio stations across Quebec. He or she leads a team of regional directors and will collaborate with station vice presidents and regional general managers.

The radio stations are located in various regions of Quebec: Saguenay, Lac St-Jean, Quebec City, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Laurentides, and Gatineau. This key role aims to optimize the overall performance of the stations, both financially and in terms of programming, ensuring both local roots and consistent integration with the network content of the parent stations. The incumbent will directly supervise the regional general managers and work closely with the management team to achieve the company’s objectives.

This key role requires close collaboration with the Vice Presidents of Talk and Music Stations and the regional general managers, as well as the ability to combine strategic vision, content sense, performance management, and understanding of local dynamics.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent;
  • Experience in managing radio stations or regional media networks, ideally in a multi-station or network context;
  • Strong skills in team management, project coordination, and performance monitoring;
  • In-depth knowledge of the Quebec media market;
  • Experience in human resources and operational management;
  • Good knowledge of regional realities in Quebec;
  • Experience in change or transformation management;
  • Experience working in multiple regions;
  • Experience in journalism.
