The role

Under the direction of the Senior Director, Programming, News, Current Affairs, and Deployment, the International News and Deployment Division will be responsible for deploying international news coverage.
It will direct, plan, and guide the day-to-day operations of multiplatform international news coverage.
It will also be responsible for overseeing the organization of international coverage plans, managing budgets, recruiting staff, and establishing the necessary links with other departments and with CBC.

The International News and Deployment Division will also be responsible for Radio-Canada’s offices outside the country and for deploying teams in hostile environments. In addition, it will play a key role in managing, transforming, and defining the editorial vision for Radio-Canada’s international coverage, as well as in its implementation.

The right fit
  • University degree in journalism or a related field;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in journalism, including some international coverage or coverage related to world news;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing journalism teams or large-scale projects;
  • Excellent understanding of national and international news issues and topics;
  • Mastery of multiplatform coverage strategies and digital formats adapted to new audiences;
  • Very good knowledge of journalistic processes, including gathering information abroad and producing content for radio, television, and the web;
  • Excellent editorial judgment, strong analytical skills, and ability to make decisions under pressure;
  • Knowledge of Radio-Canada’s journalistic standards and practices (an asset).
