The company

The Ordre professionnel des sexologues du Québec (OPSQ) was established in 2013. Governed by Québec’s Professional Code, the OPSQ plays a leading role in ensuring public protection with respect to the practice of sexology. The OPSQ is proud to contribute to the improvement of sexual health for Quebecers. The Order is also responsible for regulating access to the profession, ensuring the maintenance and development of sexologists’ competencies, and monitoring compliance with professional practice standards.

Beyond its regulatory mandate, the OPSQ supports the profession through the issuance of licenses, oversight of professional practice, professional inspections, and member support. In doing so, it contributes to the image, credibility, and ongoing development of sexology in Québec, while ensuring that Quebecers have access to high-quality, accessible, and safe specialized services.

The OPSQ plays a central role in the evolution and recognition of the profession, particularly in a context where issues related to sexual health, human relationships, and psychosexual well-being are taking on increasing importance in society. The Order acts as a credible interlocutor with public authorities, contributes to social and policy discussions related to sexuality and social services, and advocates for the unique expertise of sexologists, particularly in clinical, community, and institutional settings.

The role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and Secretary provides strategic, administrative, and operational leadership for the Order. This role is responsible for managing the organization’s affairs, following up on Board decisions, and implementing strategic orientations, in compliance with the legal and regulatory framework governing the profession.

In this capacity, the incumbent ensures high-quality governance, regulatory compliance, rigorous resource management, and the quality and continuous evolution of services offered, in alignment with the Order’s core mission of public protection. The role also plays a key part in developing and mobilizing the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, rigor, and continuous improvement.

The Executive Director and Secretary acts as a strategic partner to the Chair and the Board of Directors, contributing to issue analysis, anticipating change, and supporting informed decision-making. This role embodies the values of the Order, ensures its institutional credibility, and actively contributes to its visibility and positioning within both internal and external environments.
