SACD is a non-profit organization active throughout the French-speaking world (France, Belgium, Canada), specializing in the collection and distribution of royalties for creators in theatre, musical theatre, circus arts, audiovisual works, television series, animated web content, and more.

In Canada, SACD represents 1,792 authors. Unlike Belgium, where SACD operates as a branch office, SACD Canada functions as a subsidiary with its own governance committee. Its mission is to professionalize the role of the author, advocate for their rights, and negotiate with broadcasters to ensure fair compensation.

The role

The Executive Director of SACD Canada is responsible for the representation, management, and development of the organization in Canada. They are tasked with defending the interests of authors, maximizing the collection of royalties, and leading a successful transition toward optimized management practices.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, ideally with a specialization in intellectual property law
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a comparable organization, law firm, copyright collective, or copyright management department
  • Proven experience in budget management and resource optimization
  • Strong background in managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively
  • Demonstrated success in mobilizing multiple stakeholders
  • Solid experience in strategic communications and public representation (Board of Directors, partners, diverse stakeholders)
  • Expertise in copyright law, including legal and contractual issues in the cultural sector (an asset)
