The Conseil québécois LGBT (CQ-LGBT) represents over 80 LGBT organizations across Quebec and serves as a key interlocutor with provincial and federal decision-making bodies to defend and enhance the rights of sexually and gender-diverse individuals. Through a consultative and intersectional approach, the CQ-LGBT supports and develops spaces for collaboration, amplifying the voices of its members in political advocacy.

The role

The Conseil québécois LGBT is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the role of Executive Director. The ideal candidate has proven experience in team management within a collaborative and strategic environment, demonstrating inclusive and mobilizing leadership. With a strong ability to position themselves and make informed decisions with rigor and accountability, they foster trust and engagement within the team.

This role requires expertise in advocacy strategies and experience managing relationships with political decision-makers, along with strong public speaking and media representation skills.

The Executive Director of the Conseil québécois LGBT operates in an environment where collective intelligence and the voices of members are essential to fulfilling the organization’s mission. Tact and diplomacy are crucial for building lasting relationships, navigating resistance, and transforming disagreements into constructive dialogue.

The right fit
  • University degree in a relevant field (Political Science, Public Administration, Gender Studies, etc.) or equivalent professional and volunteer experience;
  • At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit management
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in team leadership and performance management;
  • Strong knowledge of LGBTQ+ communities and related issues;
  • Experience in public relations (public speaking, media relations, government relations, policy briefs);
  • Financial management expertise (budgeting, forecasting, accounting, reporting, operations);
  • Experience in fundraising (sponsorships, grants, financial partnerships, fundraising campaigns);
  • Governance experience (Board meetings, follow-ups, dashboards, reporting);
  • Proven track record in advocacy strategies and relationship management with political decision-makers, with a strong understanding of provincial and federal political structures;
  • Experience managing membership-based organizations (an asset);
  • Salary range: $80,000 to $110,000.
