The role

As a change leader, the Director of Marketing and Communications will play a key role in transforming the Museum’s marketing and commercial strategies, while amplifying the institution’s reach and cultural mission at the local, national, and international levels.

Reporting to the Director General and leading a team of 22, the selected candidate will be responsible for developing and executing an engaging marketing strategy, enhancing the MMFA brand, and leveraging new digital and event-based communication channels. With the goal of increasing the Museum’s visibility and diversifying revenue sources, the Director will contribute to the Museum’s strategic positioning.

The right fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in team management
  • Proven success in developing and deploying integrated omnichannel marketing and communications strategies to achieve growth targets in revenue, awareness, and impact
  • Strong track record in digital and relationship marketing, with deep knowledge of analytics tools and business intelligence
  • Experience building and managing media relations and external communications
  • Success in developing online commercialization strategies, ideally in ticketing
  • Strong skills in measuring and optimizing campaign performance and tracking KPIs
  • Experience working with boards of directors and foundations
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset
